Large agro holding is recruiting an Animal Bioinformatics Specialist to analyze and interpret
data from its genotyping laboratory. The position will be based in its genomics laboratory located in Moscow.
The person will report to the Genomics Project Director and collaborate closely with the Genomics
Laboratory Manager and Genetics Directors of company's Pork, Cattle and Sheep projects.
The specialist will develop and oversee the analysis of the phenotypic and genotypic databases for each
species. They will work with the Genetics Specialists of each species to establish proper protocols for
collecting and recording phenotypic data to develop prediction equations of genetic merit from
genotypes. Established protocols recommended by foreign consultants will be used to analyze data and
predict parentage, genetic abnormalities and genetic merit on an animal by animal basis. Single-step
methodology will be used to estimate genetic merit from phenotypic prediction equations, pedigrees
and genotypes simultaneously for more than 500,000 animals annually. The Bioinformatics Specialist
will collaborate with foreign consultants and the Genetic Specialists of each specie to develop Selection
$Indexes to insure maximum genetic progress in the economically important traits for each respective
Candidates must have:
- 4 year university degree in Bioinformatics, Quantitative Genetics or related field.
- minimum of 3 years’ experience managing large databases and analyzing large data sets.
- Education or experience in a North American or European university or company is beneficial but not required.
