Large agro holding is recruiting a Laboratory Manager for its genomics laboratory in Moscow.
Manager will oversee all the laboratory processes and oversee up to 20 laboratory technicians that will
genotype more than 500,000 tissue samples annually from pigs, cattle and sheep.
He/she will communicate frequently with North American and European Genomics Consultants and with the
suppliers of bead-based microarray and genome sequencing technology.
The laboratory will be equipped with the latest robotic equipment which isolates, amplifies and
genotypes tissue samples from pigs, cattle and sheep. Samples from animals will be logged into a
database. DNA will be isolated from the tissue samples, amplified using PCR technology and genotyped
using bead-based microarray technology using low and high density microarrays. Genotyping by
Sequencing (gbs) technology may also be implemented. The 10,000-800,000 genotypes from each
sample will be logged into a database for analysis by a Bioinformatics Specialists for parentage, genetic
abnormalities and genetic merit. The candidate must have an initial basic understanding of these
processes but develop a comprehensive understanding during the first year of managing the lab.
Candidates must have:
4 year university degree in molecular genetics or biological field.
minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high quality biological laboratory and prove they are
capable of a high level of laboratory technique and ability to follow protocols.
Education or experience in a North American or European genomics laboratory is quite
beneficial but is not required.
English language are required to read the protocols, equipment manuals and communicate
effectively with foreign consultants.
The lab manager will report to the Genomics Project Director and collaborate closely with the
