|в Institute of Genomics Statistics and Bioinformatics|
PhD или аспирант
The PhD work will be focused on the bioinformatics analysis of complex genetic traits. In particular, the research is aimed at integrating common and rare genetic risk factors together with conventional risk factors in order to develop risk prediction models for various human traits.
The research field of the IGSB concerns the development of innovative algorithms for the analysis of genomics data for association with human traits (e.g., disease condition). In this context, extensive research combining bioinformatics data processing (e.g., chip array and NGS data analysis) with artificial intelligence (e.g., machine and deep learning methods) is performed. IGSB offers an excellent multidisciplinary team-oriented research environment and opportunities for individual development. The Institute is engaged in multiple collaborations with other departments at the University of Bonn, as well as with international leading research groups. The PhD position is offered within a newly established BONFOR research group of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bonn working in polygenic risk score modelling. The PhD candidate will have the opportunity to get involved in multiple projects related to bioinformatics and biostatistics analysis of genetics data.
• Master degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, statistics or related subjects
• Proficiency in English
• Solid knowledge of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, machine learning approaches, preferably with experience in big data analysis
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably used in data science (e.g., Python, R)
• Experience in working with unix systems, command-line interface, possibly with experience in high-performance computing
• Basic knowledge in biology and genetics
The position will be financed for three years. The position will be reimbursed in accordance with the German salary scale TV-L E13 65% (https://academia.stackexchange.com/questions/7231/what-is-a-tv-l-13-position). We offer a jobticket and supplementary public sector benefits (pension scheme according to VBL). The University of Bonn is an equal opportunity employer.
