Обязанности

We are seeking a  Application Support Specialist II to join PrecisionLink, a major research initiative at Boston Children’s Hospital. The aim of this initiative is to link research and clinical missions at our hospital by establishing the technology, policies and workflows to engage our patients in research, and treating each visit as an opportunity for patients to contribute to our scientific knowledge. PrecisionLink has built a knowledgebase of linked genomic and phenotypic patient data for use in research, as well as in clinical care. This role will support the PrecisionLink and affiliated software platforms.

This Application Support Specialist II will be responsible for:

  • Performing troubleshooting of all mission-critical platforms, provide triage, resolution, or recommendations.
  • Provide customer support to users with varying technical knowledge.
  • Create and maintain training documentation.
  • Provide training to new and existing users.
  • Perform user administration duties.
  • Support configurations and test business processes.
  • Coordinate with different stakeholders to reach resolutions.
  • Performance of other tasks as assigned by the research and development teams.
  • Facilitates and implements system additions and modifications
  • Monitors error reports and resolves or coordinates resolution of malfunctions.
  • Monitors and maintains systems security and provides training to users.
  • Helps to support the development of planning activities and provides technical support in data gathering and analysis. Collects and retrieves data and tabulates quantitative statistics from system databases. Suggests system improvements to improve department workflows and productivity.
  • Arranges for service of system hardware and other devices as required. Troubleshoots system software problems and user difficulties.
  • Acts as a resource to support staff and managers to department managers to resolve application issues.
  • Prepares documentation on system applications.

 

 

Требования

In order to qualify, you must have:

  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field with one to three years’ experience in bioinformatics field.
  • Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs.
  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions. Work requires well-developed writing skills.
  • Experience analyzing genomic data. Experience with phenotypic data is a plus.
