▪ During this summer I have completed a 6 week(210 hrs) placement in departments of Bacteriology, Haematology, Parasitology and Biochemistry in KATH.
▪ During my time at KATH I have received training in the following techniques and methods: G6PD screen; Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate; Sickling test, HPLC for Haemoglobinopathies; HB Elec- trophoresis; Blood film comment, bone marrow examination; Complete Blood Count and interpret- ation, Malaria Parasite testing and speciation(thick and thin blood film); 
Coagulation studies(INR, D-Dimer; Factor IV; Factor VIII; Prothrombin Time; Activated Partial; Thromboplastin Time); Agar(CLED; Mueller-Hinton; MacConkey; Blood; Chocolate; Brain Heart In- fusion (BHI) Agar); operation of Autoclave oven; preparation of culture plates from patient samples; Urine Biochemistry testing with Multi Purpose Urine Test Strips; High Vaginal Swab/Urine Wet Film comment; Blood cultures using blood culture bottle; operation of various Analysers for Biochemic- al and Immunology studies(eg COBAS® AmpliPrep, COBAS INTEGRA® 400 plus others) and in- terpretation; Rapid DNA Extraction from Dried Blood Spots on Filter Paper for HIV testing; Hepatit- is profiling; Microfilariae Diagnostics and pathogeneses; preparation and examination of urine and stool wet films and parasite identification.

The key focus of our work with exo-electrogenic bacteria was to improve their metabolic efficiency through genetic alterations of the pathways indirectly responsible for their exo-electrogenic abilit- ies suck as Anaerobic response candidate transcription factors of Shewanella Oneidensis MR-1. I was heavily involved in Modelling and curated laboratory work, which included Sequence Design and metabolic pathway modelling, Competent cell preparation, Ligations(3 A Assembly standard), Enzyme digest, Gel electrophoresis, Plasmid Purification, Heat shock and Conjugation transforma- tion of E. coli Top-10 and Shewanella O. MR-1, Microbial Fuel Cell Assembly, setup and data ana- lysis, Media Preparation(MSM, LB, TAP). I was also involved in the Wiki design which allowed me to learn basic web development skills.

As a Supervisor in Camden Fest involved managing/supervising floor team, bar/floor setup and breakdown, cocktail preparation and service, table service(silver service), assisting in food prep, reception, hosting, taking reservations, complaints handling, working with the events organisers and most importantly have fun doing it. Throughout my time at Camden fest I’ve acquired a variety of skills that can be applicable to any Bar/Floor position. Our team routinely worked various events hosting up to 1000ppl at the venue( ie. Cabaret show, Blingo(RNB Bingo), Brunch with the Boys(Strip Brunch), Reggae Brunch, Motown, Club Nights and others).

In October 2017, I was selected by my University to take part in the research project aimed at dis- covering potential antibiotic compounds. Laboratory work involved Health and Safety training, per- forming culture development from environmental samples, isolation of bacteria, DNA isolation, Bacterial Identification using 16S rRNA gene, followed by screening for antibiotic properties of the cultures obtained the previous year against Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
